How to Solve Problems

We all solve problems everyday, some seem easy because we do them regularly other may be life change, or seem insurmountable.

When we are under stress it is common to see problems from an ‘all or nothing’ place, which adds to the stress because if feels like we must make the “right” decision or “everything” will go wrong.

When we are faced with a problem it can help to imagine being on a stepping stone and in front of you are other stepping stones with options for a solution, doing nothing and staying put is also an option.

You can consider each option and, as best you can, imagine the outcome.

Then choose an option knowing that when you move onto that particular stepping stone more options (stepping stones) will be open to you then and you can review the situation from a different place.

These stepping stones maybe baby steps on the way to solving a big problem.  You no longer feel rooted to the spot with fear or feeling overwhelmed by the weight of the problem.  It’s not all or nothing.

Problems can also be opportunities: they allow you to see things differently and to do things in a different way: perhaps to make a fresh start.
